The Pros and Cons of Having a 3-Month Vacation

Every kid’s dream is to have a 3-month summer vacation. In Korea, most schools have a 1 or 2-month break. Unlike other parts of the world, Korean schools give homework during this time. This is a bit unfair seeing how much time they are given to go on a holiday and do homework. Other countries have about 2-3 months to rest, so do you think that Korea should have a 3-month break too? You can decide for yourself after you read about the pros and cons.

According to some people, students prefer a 3-month vacation instead of the short amount of time given to play. Kids can most definitely have more sleep than usual. A lot of people go to bed at midnight and wake up from 5 am to 7 am. Sleep is very important especially when you are young and getting ready for the next semester. Also, a break is an opportunity to engage in fun activities such as crafts or sports. It can help kids to become creative and more fit for the upcoming days.

On the contrary, others say that kids should only have 1 or 2 months of holiday. Kids will most likely use their devices for a long time, and they will gain weight because of the lack of exercise. This will also cause them to lose motivation as they get bored. When time passes, children will eventually forget what they were doing in school. That is why shorter breaks some say shorter breaks are more appropriate than having a long, boring break.

In my opinion, a 3-month summer break is too long, especially for adults. Parents will have a hard time adjusting to the new schedule. Teachers will also underestimate how much time they have in order to finish all of their work.

There are many pros and cons of having a 3-month vacation in Korea. We can sleep more to help us throughout the holiday. Also, we could do fun activities. Sadly, some might only spend time with their devices. This will make them sluggish and throw tantrums. Plus, the parents will most likely be tired due to the schedule changes. What do you think?
