Environmental Issues of Today

These days, science is rapidly developing and people are taking full advantages of a convenient life. People ride cars to go anywhere, use disposal products and electronic equipment to search things. Most people rely on these things too much, and they cannot live without them. However, there will be a danger behind all of this coziness.

If people do not care about bad signals that the Earth is getting sick, global warming will keep progressing. Global warming is the long-term heating of the Earth’s surface observed since the pre-industrial period which was between the 1850s and 1990s, due to human activities, primary fossil fuel burning. This increases heat-trapping greenhouse gas levels in the Earth’s atmosphere. Burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests, and farming livestock are increasingly influencing climate changes and the Earth’s temperature. This adds enormous amounts of greenhouse gases which is the effect of global warming. It is important to keep analyzing about the Earth.

Two big reasons that cause global warming are air pollution and soil pollution. Since most people have their own cars, lots of carbon dioxide come out from the cars every day. Research has shown that in 2014 the US added 6,870 million metric tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. That’s an average of 218 metric tons per second, 13,062 metric tons per minute, and 18,809,437 metric tons a day, which causes huge air pollution. People also enjoy eating meat, so they keep lots of livestock. However, animal farms have a big problem. If they want to raise animals, they have to burn down the forest to grow animals’ food. Along the way, it causes black carbon which is 2,530 times more carbon dioxide. Moreover, they need to fertilize the farm which produces nitrous oxide that is 298 times more carbon dioxide. Since 1862, people started to use plastic which was also a major impact on the environment because it takes many years for them to decompose. In addition, toxic substances are released into the soil when plastic perishes under sunlight.

Scientists are expecting that the effects of human-caused global warming are happening now, are irreversible for people alive today, and will worsen if humans add greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. A warmer climate increases public health changes like heat-aggravated illnesses, vector borne diseases, and decreased access to save water and food. Cutting short-lived climate pollutants can slow the rate of global warming and lower public health risks, so people should try to put into practice to things slow down.

Nature is connected in many ways to human and the Earth is getting hotter because of human facilities. Global warming is going to keep on increasing and finally it will destruct. That is why people should be practical to solve these problems before they happen.
