My Worst Nightmare

Everyone has scary nightmares…right? When I was younger, I had lots of nightmares. Out of all the dreams, one was unforgettable. It contained horror, sadness and mystery…and of course, little me had to handle all that in one night!

This is what happened. It felt like 4 a.m. It was a dark, cold day, and menacing bats covered the sky. Everyone was stationed outside as I frantically looked around. Now realizing that everyone outside was my family and friends. Mysterious men led us to an abandoned, wooden shed where there was only one source of light, the lamp. I help my mom’s hand tight for dear life. I could see everyone’s eyes filled with fear.

THUMP, THUMP, THUMP. Footsteps were coming closer and closer to us. With every step, I felt more terrified. A man entered. He was wearing all black and had thick snow boots. He had no emotion on his hairy face. He was looking around like we were his food choices. Suddenly, he pointed his damaged and dirty finger at me! My soul left my body as I stood there trembling. “You…chose between that boy or your mom.” His low voice made the situation even creepier. Without thinking, I shouted, “My mom!” I felt my mom’s warm hand releasing as she got pulled away into another room. Just like that, she got violently stabbed.

Thankfully, that was the end of the dream. I woke up with wet eyes and was screaming loudly. I knew my dad was running up to my room. The first thing I asked was “where is my mom?” Confused, he reassured me that my mom was safe and calmed me down. I gulped down a cup of water and couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night.

That was the worst nightmare of my life! I hope other 7-year-olds won’t have dreams like this for the sake of their vocal cords. This was my darkest and most dramatic dream ever! I know this because I remember it to this day. It’s not easy to remember dreams especially when it was from three or four years ago! In order to stay away from nightmares like this, I recommend avoiding horror movies so that you have sweet dreams!
