How the Human Immune System Works
If people don’t have immune systems, there is nothing that protects people from bacteria or viruses. Then, people would constantly get sick from external disease. Like this, the immune system plays a very important role.
The immune system is the shield for protecting our body from invaders. It is a natural defense system is activated when people are infected with bacteria or viruses. Also, it is an association system of cells. It is a complex network of cells, organs, proteins, and tissues that enables the immune system to recognize invaders such as bacteria, viruses and fungi as well as abnormal cells like cancer cells, and helps the body fight the invasion. The cells responsible for the acquired region of the antigen recognition task are reactors, a type of white blood cell. The cell corps protect our body from enemies. Thus, the immune system is like an army that protects the body.
The immune system is made up of various cells, of which white blood cells are the ones that people are most familiar with. It exists in a number of different types, each of which plays a different role in the immune system. Among them, B-cells and T-cells are especially important. B-cells are a type of white blood cell that makes infection-fighting proteins called antibodies, and T-cells are stem cells in the bone marrow that help protect the body from infection. B-cells produce antibodies when they recognize an antigen entering the body. When antibodies attach to an antigen, they alert to T-cells to kill the pathogen. Then, the other cells kill the pathogen. Instead of these cells there are lots of cells that keep our body safe. All of these cells help the immune system function properly.
People have their own immune systems, but still they need help from the outside such as medicine or vaccines. Vaccines help people’s immune systems to fight infections faster and more effectively. When people get a vaccine, it sparks people’s immune response helping the body fight off and remember the germ so it can attack when the real germ invades again. Also, antibiotics help our body. They kill the bacteria or stop it from spreading to fight against infections. Even so, help from outside would still have its side effects, so people should think carefully when using any.
The immune system is very important for the human body. There are various cells that help the immune system and also, medicines and vaccines help it too. However, for a healthy body it is necessary to strengthen people’s own immune system in other ways rather than relying only on medicines of vaccines.
