How to Play Chess

Do you guys like board games? Well, I like board games, and I have a lot of favorite board games. Out of those board games, my favorite one is chess.

Chess is a board game where you have to use your brain, so it is a mind game. In chess, there is a board and a lot of small pieces. There are 16 pieces for each person. Each player has 8 pawns, 2 bishops, 2 knights, 2 rooks, 1 king, and 1 queen. The board is an 8x8 board and it has 64 spaces. When you start, the pawns should be in the front, and the other pieces should be at the back.

When the game starts, you can move a pawn or knight because the knight can jump over other pieces and the other pieces behind the pawn can't move. For a pawn, you can move one space forward. When the game starts, in your first turn you can move two spaces forward. The bishops can move diagonally. The knights can jump over the other pieces, but they can only move in an 'L' shape. Rooks can move forward, backward, left, and right, but not diagonally. The queen, however, is omnidirectional. The king is omnidirectional, but it can only move one space at a time.

The game rules are simple. You have to use your pieces to get close to the king, and you defeat the king when the king is unable to move. Before the king is caught, you have to say 'check' as a warning, but when the king is completely caught, you say 'checkmate'. You can also get other pieces. You can get them when the pieces are in the way of your pieces. Only for the pawns, the pawns can get other pieces when the other pieces are diagonal to them and only one space away. If your pieces are caught, they can't come back to the board.

In conclusion, I think that chess is a fun board game. Also, chess is a brain game which helps to develop your mental skills, so I think that chess is a really fun and good board game to play with family and friends.
