Over many centuries, there had been many plagues that had spread all over the world. Plagues had killed many people over time. In the mid-14th century, there was a plague called as the Black Death, also known as the pest. From this plague, over 1/3 of Europeans were killed.

Everyone knows a bit about the Black Death. When people had this, their skin would turn black and make their lymph nodes swell up and cause breathing difficulties. Many people didn't have much information about medicine at this time and it caused more problems. Europe was in horror and every European country had the Black Death at some point and people could not stop it from spreading further. They were looking at the problem in different ways. They were thinking differently about this plague. It was a horrible and scary disease that killed so many innocent lives.

Many plagues spread in different ways. For the Black Death too, it also spread in many ways. First, it was widely spread mostly by fleas that traveled on top of rodents. It happened in Mongolia and spread by the travel of the silk roads and on trading ships. Then it spread even more because of poor hygiene and sanitation. Not having much medical knowledge had spread more of it. If people were more clean and sanitized more lives could have been spared and the spread might have been a little bit less of a threat.

In the Mid-14th century, many plague doctors tried to fix this plague. They wore wide brimmed hats and put gloves on and also put on beak shaped masks on their faces. They put strongly scented herbs in their masks too. They cured people by bloodletting, using leeches and cutting out the lymph nodes by heating iron tools. Sometimes people burned entire towns or hit themselves with whips. Some thought the plagues happened because their blood temperature was too high or thought that the gods were giving them a punishment. Due to this plague, over 1/3 of Europeans had to die.

There are certain things in this world that interfere with human lives and plagues are one of them. A plague can ruin the entire world and Covid-19 is a modern example of it. Going through a plague can hurt the world and help the world at the same time since people can increase their knowledge of medicine while the problems can be hard to deal with.
