The Statue of Liberty


The Statue of Liberty is one of the most famous landmarks in the world. Many people like to visit it when they are in New York. The statue is famous for a lot of reasons. It has lots of meanings as it stands for many things. It is very big, and it took decades and many constructors to build it. This is why the Statue of Liberty is an interesting and amazing monument worth learning about.

The Statue of Liberty has many special features. If you take a look at it, you can see a woman holding a torch in her right hand and a tablet in her left hand bearing the adoption date of the US Declaration of Independence. The entire figure is 93 meters tall, so if you go all the way up, you can see the whole city. This work of art is made of copper, gold, and iron to keep it from collapsing. The workers used ladders and stairs to build the statue, but now visitors use elevators to move up and down.

Constructing the Statue of Liberty was not easy even with the help of many constructors. The leader of the project was a famous sculptor named Frederic Bartholdi. Also, Gustave Eiffel—the builder of the Eiffel Tower—helped. To construct the statue, funds were given by the French people. Every piece of it was hammered into shapes by hand and transported by a boat. After 30 years of work, this statue was finally built on Liberty Island in New York.



The Statue of Liberty symbolizes many important things. First, it represents the friendship between the United States and France. The statue was a gift from France to America, congratulating the USA’s 100th anniversary of independence. This work of art also represents inspiring ideas. Holding the torch is meaning of lighting the world with liberty and freedom. For Gustave Eiffel, the Statue of Liberty is also personally meaningful since he built it while thinking about his mother.


As one can see, the Statue of Liberty is not just an ordinary statue. It was so huge that it took 30 years to build it. The statue symbolizes many things such as freedom and liberty. It is also an expression of Gustave Eiffel’s love for his mother. The Statue of Liberty is a very special landmark in the world. It wouldn’t be a waste of time seeing this figure when one visits New York in the United States.
